Your Productivity Is Causing You Stress (Part 1)

The following is the first part of a three part post.

Productivity is a very hot topic and your inability to be productive is causing you and billions of others lots of stress. Yes, I said billions, not millions.

We each have the same 24 hours in each day. And most of us have things we need to do, a family, friends, a job, and plenty of other things to address. Each of us wants to make the best of the 24 hours we have but we are not all good at assessing how those 24 hours should be allocated. As a result, many, if not most of us are under a siege because of our stress.

We each need a strategy to be more productive so that we can keep our stress at bay. You want, no, you deserve to be happy, healthy and to live without an overwhelm of stress because you are not productive.

Dan Sullivan, the founder of Strategic Coach (R). Dan teaches entrepreneurs a 5-step plan, that he developed to achieve his most productive working day, no matter what the day involves. Here in this two part blog post I will summarize what Dan teaches and what I learned. I have started to implement what I learned and I hope that you will too.

Step 1- Do only what you love and are great at.

When your strengths are fueled by their passion in both their personal and work lives, they can better and more effectively contribute to the world around them. This is a formula for success. As Dan says, “the amazing combination of talent and passion always produces their best results”. Dan coins this “Unique Ability” (R).

Unique Ability is the essence of what you love to do and do best, and how you make your greatest contribution. It has four characteristics.

  1. It’s a superior ability that other people notice and value.
  2. You’re passionate about using it and want to use it as much as possible.
  3. It’s energizing both for you and others around you.
  4. There’s a sense of never ending improvement.

As humans our we tend to downplay our natural talents according to Dan, but we should actually focus on them, embrace them.

So what are your natural talents ?
